Family Fun Day, 29 December, 2018 at 9:00AM Latvian Hall, Wayville!
We are confident that the weather will be kind and that we will able to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, whilst having a lot of fun. Everyone is invited: grandparents, parents and of course children.
The Latvian School of Adelaide together with a team of helping hands has planned a very full program, thus ensuring that everyone is fully engaged and occupied.
The morning has 3 acts, so a punctual arrival is highly recommended. In the first part of the morning, children will be involved in practical activities and a wild race. Each will receive a WHITE STORK’S MAP, which will show the way to various activities, needing both creativity and intellect. Participants will get to know the gardens of Tālava and gather evidence of their achievements. This challenge will take around 40 minutes and parents are encouraged to be actively involved in helping and supervising the children.
The second part of the morning will test our sporting capabilities with sport, sport and more sport. It will be a family competition as we aim to throw 100 baskets to celebrate Latvia’s 100th Birthday. It would be highly advantageous if everyone in the family lent a hand; the family getting most baskets will be crowned champions . For the third act of the morning, by which time everyone will have warmed up and got to know each other, we will come together to sing and dance with post folkloric youth band “Rikši” from Latgale. Let us see what they can teach us, or perhaps what we can teach them. Certainly, it would be well worth running through the moves of popular dances such as “Cūkas driķos”.
And as with all Latvian events, starvation is not an option. An all day sausage sizzle, as well as pīrāgi, coffee and refreshments from Tālavas cafe, will happily cater for the Family Fun Day.
There also some surprises which cannot be revealed at this stage. We, however, hope to see a great number of families enjoying a very special morning!
